Shannon Isaacson Escobar, MS PAC
Originally from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Shannon relocated to Southeast Florida after meeting her Colombian born husband Leonardo in 2013. She graduated from Michigan Technological University in 1997 with a Bachelors in Biological Sciences. She then went on to obtain her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from Central Michigan University in 2000. Starting her career in family practice allowed her to see people of all ages and gain a better understanding of health throughout the human lifespan. It was after six years of family practice that she realized people were not getting healthy in the western medical model, just slowly declining. This realization prompted her to seek areas of medicine where she could hopefully make a bigger difference in the lives of her patients, leading her to spend the next 10 years in acute settings including urgent/emergent care and occupational health clinics. During this time she volunteered internationally providing medical care to impoverished people in Haiti and Belize and also volunteered at a local free clinic treating those unable to pay for medical care. After the birth of her twins Christian and Zaphara in 2016 she realized she missed the connections she developed with her patients while working in family medicine so she went back into primary care working in a Family/Geriatric clinic. It was during this time she learned about Functional Medicine and saw how it could profoundly change the lives of her patients. Utilizing a person specific analysis, Functional Medicine seeks to find and address the root cause of dysfunction in the body. This approach profoundly improved patient's health and quality of life. Shannon looks at all aspects of a person's life, including mental, physical, and spiritual to gain a better understanding of what interventions are most needed to not only achieve rapid relief, but, most importantly, educate her patients so that they have a basis of understanding of how to achieve and maintain lifelong health and happiness. Shannon is a trauma informed practitioner and has particular interest in mental health and how adverse childhood events can substantially affect children throughout their lives if not properly addressed. It is her vision to help create a world where people are empowered to take control of their health and wellbeing so that everyone can thrive.
